- The Knights just finished up a short two-game
series in Norfolk. The Tides won both games, taking the first 7-6 in 13 innings
on Saturday, before a 4-3 decision on Sunday.
- Surkamp, who has appeared in
relief in his last four outings, will make his sixth start on the season for
Charlotte on Tuesday. As a starter, Surkamp is 1-2 with a 6.00 ERA. However, in
his last three relief appearances (15 IP), the southpaw has gone 0-0 with a
1.80 ERA.
- White Sox prospect Micah Johnson will likely make his BB&T
BallPark debut on Tuesday. The 23-year-old second baseman was promoted to the
Knights on May 13 from Double-A Birmingham after leading the Southern League
with a .329 batting average. In six games for the Knights, Johnson is hitting
.296 (8-for-27) with a double and a one run batted in. After going hitless in
his first game, he has a five-game hit-streak (8 H over his last 5G).
- Over
his last 10 games, Charlotte third baseman Matt Davidson is hitting .294
(10-for-34), with two doubles and a home run to go along with five RBIs. He’s
now hitting .198 on the season.
- Tuesday's starter for Norfolk, Kevin Gausman, was
drafted fourth overall in 2012 and entered the season and the No. 26 prospect
in the game, according to Baseball
America. He underwhelmed in his 2014 debut with the Baltimore Orioles last
Thursday, allowing five runs on six hits over four innings in a loss to the
Detroit Tigers. In Triple-A he’s faired much better, averaging 9K’s/9IP.
