Final: Norfolk Tides 10, Charlotte Knights 3

Final: Knights 3, Tides 10 -- Maikel Cleto allowed a run in his third outing since joining Charlotte on May 13. He lit up the radar guns, hitting 98 several times, but struggled with his control, walking a batter and tossing two wild pitches -- the second of which allowed a run home.

Wilkins reached on an error, but Preston Guilmet recovered to retire the next three knights.

Here's your box score.

End of 8th: Knights 3, Tides 9 -- Mitchell Boggs retired the Tides in order before the Knights added a run on a Jordan Danks sacrifice fly (bringing in Carlos Sanchez) off Heath Bell.

End of 7th: Knights 2, Tides 9  -- Norfolk got to Fuentes in the seventh for two runs after the left-hander allowed a single, a double, a sacrifice fly and a triple to begin the inning. Mitchell Boggs came on and retired the next two batters.

Additon allowed a two-out single to Mitchell. However Knights' left fielder was quickly picked off first by Tides' catcher Brian Ward.

End of 6th: Knights 2, Tides 7 -- For the first time since the first inning, neither team scored a run. Fuentes remained on for Charlotte and sandwiched a strikeout between two flies to center. Additon worked around a one-out walk to Jordan Danks.

End of 5th: Knights 2, Tides 7 -- Leesman failed to make it through the fifth. After a hit batter, a base hit, a double and a walk led to two runs, Nelvin Fuentes came on and got an inning-ending double play off the bat of Berry.

Leesman’s line: 4.2 IP, 9 H (six doubles), 7 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 5 K – 85 pitches.

Yoon failed to make it out of the bottom of the inning for an entirely different reason when Matt Davidson led off with a line drive off the right-hander’s left knee. Yoon went straight to the ground and needed help getting off the field.

Nick Additon came on and walked Andy Wilkins before getting Tekotte, Hernandez on strikes.

Jared Mitchell then worked a walk to load the bases for Micah Johnson, who knocked in a run with an infield single.

Yoon’s line: 4 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 3 Ks. – 47 pitches.

End of 4th: Knights 1, Tides 5 – Quintin Berry led off with a single to left that got past Jared Mitchell and ran all the way to the wall for a two-base error. Berry then came into score on a sacrifice fly to center by Ivan De Jesus.

Hernandez (ground out), Mitchell (K) and Johnson (K) went down in order.

End of 3rd: Knights 1, Tides 4 – When Leesman has left a pitch over the plate, the Tides haven’t missed it. Norfolk added two more runs thanks to three doubles in the third. For the game they’ve connected on five extra-base hits.

Gorkys Hernandez bounced to third, Jared Mitchell went down swinging and Micah Johnson watched strike three.

End of 2nd: Knights 1, Tides 2 – Leesman allowed a one-out single to Steve Lombardozzi. He advanced to second on a fielder’s choice and then, after a walk to Brian Ward, scored on a double by Quintin Berry.

Leesman looked to be out of the inning when Jemile Weeks bounced to second, but Micah Johnson’s throw pulled Andy Wilkins off the bag and allowed Ward to score.

Matt Davidson hit his first home run of the season at BB&T BallPark and fifth overall. It came on a 2-1 fastball and there was no doubt off the bat.

End of 1st: Knights 0, Tides 0 – Charlie Leesman worked around a two out double by Cord Phelps.

Micah Johnson bounced to second, Carlos Sanchez flied to short and Josh Phegley hit a comebacker to Norfolk starter Suk-Min Yoon.
